Lake Ouachita Vista Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, 1:00pm
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to officially open the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail
Location: Avery Recreation Area, Lake Ouachita Blakely Mountain Dam, Garland County
This 40-mile long trail system designed for mountain biking and hiking is the result of 10 years of planning, design and construction by a coalition of a dozen local, state and federal organizations. The trail courses along the southern shores of Lake Ouachita over five mountains located in the Ouachita National Forest. The agenda for the ceremony will include remarks by: Colonel John W. Cross, Colonel, US Army Corps of Engineers Norman Wagner, Forest Supervisor, Ouachita National Forest Joe David Rice, Arkansas Tourism Director Jeff Crow, Deputy Director, Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Steve Schneider, Regional Director, IMBA Following the ribbon cutting there will be a two-mile hike and bike event on the Blakely Mountain section of the trail and shuttles will be provided.

Quilts of Valor, 11:30am - 2:00pm

The Montgomery County Quilts of Valor, American Legion Post 313 Montgomery County 4-H, and the Front Port Stage invite you to come share in the presentation of eight Quilts of Valor. Quilts of Valor have already created and presented severnty quilts to Montgomery County Veterans. The Mountain Springs Band will be performing at Noon. Quilts of Valor nationally have presented over 106,500 quilts to date. Make your plans to attend this wonderful presentation. The American Legion will also be presenting a special award to the mother of Justin "Dutch" Estes of Sims, a Fallen Hero killed in Iraq.
